On October 12, 1971, the Supreme Council of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. approved the establishment request of
Upsilon Nu Chapter. The chapter was chartered at the home of Brother Raymon Cowans in Mechanicsville Virginia
The official letter of approval was written by Third District Representative Brother Melvin Washington, It was addressed
to Brother Joseph M. Stills, the chapter's first Basileus. A full written history of Upsilon Nu Chapter was completed in 1984 and updated in 2022
